Chasing The Dangling Carrot . . .

"I'm going to New York City, I never really been there
Just like the way it sounds, I heard the girls are pretty
There must be something happening there is just too big a town," - Steve Earle, "NYC"

I talked to the New York agent yesterday, and despite wanting to add just a bit more size to my lower chest, he said I "look great and I'm right there" for an all-expenses paid trip to the East Coast.

There's always a catch, and this time it's that this trip won't happen until January or February due to his travel, availability and then the holidays shut down the busineeses and the very people who I would be brought out there to meet.

But the extra time should allow me to add the poundage to my chest with any luck at all.

I'm still not fully convinced that this will happen, and won't be until I have a plane ticket in my name bound for JFK. Besides, a promise from an agent in the NY modeling industry likely doesn't hold the same value as one from Austin, however, I've met with this guy 4 times now, and this is the best response I've ever gotten from him as he's pretty damn blunt.

Here's the final pics that sealed the deal:

I think my smile looks a bit crazy due to partial dehydration and 10 weeks of dieting. I also wonder if I felt like that, then how in the hell does Nicole Richie walk around at all?

Questions. Questions.

I have quite a few of my own as I need to talk to my nutrionist to see how we're going to approach the next several months. Taking a break from my rigid diet will certainly be part of it, and then getting back on enough to peak in Jan/Feb. will not be a walk in the park - unless I can nail it perfectly and then it will mean a walk in Central Park.

And while I won't chase this thing forever, it would be a nice little present to myself if I could roll into New York near my birthday (Jan 29th) just to say that I did it.

We shall see.

  2. Actually, there is a photo of Nicole recently falling down on some stairs ;) I'm excited for you and the New York trip. Congratulations!! I'd sign you!!

  4. Yippee! Congratulations!
    I'm not surprised..

  5. Jlee - I'm not surprised as I don't see how Richie doesn't pass out from exertion on a walk to the mailbox. And if the NYC guy balks, I'll negotiate mysteriously with "other offers." Ha. Thanks.

Luce - I'm glad someone's not as I'm a little and still cautious until it actually happens. But thanks a lot.

  7. My fingers will be crossed for you as you do seem quite passionate about this whole thing. Who knows maybe you and Kate will be sharing some lines in NY :P

  11. Wow! That's exciting news!
Sounds like you know this agent well enough to believe he is good for his word. I know you don't want to get too fired up about it until it happens, but it sure does seem to be working this time :-)

Good luck working out your diet plan for the coming months.
Glad you'll get a little break.

Really..I don't see how Nicole manages to walk at all. She is skin and bones.
She needs a bag of hush puppies!

  12. Miss Ash - I'm not sure about passionate as it wasn't my dream as a child, but it has been a driving force for awhile now. And if Kate offers it, I'll probably partake if only for the story.

BostonPobble - Thanks a lot, and it's good to see you back as deadlines can be detrimental to web surfing. Hope a weight has been lifted.

Kayla - I think Nicole and I could both benefit from a few hush puppies as she looks like an 80 year old frail woman and I simply want to eat some. As for the agent, I'm cautiously optimistic and will stay that way for awhile. But it's good news for sure.

  16. Congrats, that is soo swesome, all your hard work is paying off!!

And the chest does look good!

  17. Chris - I believe that would only be legal in Utah.

Dreamlover - Thanks and it seems that it might be the case, but I'm not there yet. We shall see.

  19. Congratulations! To celebrate, please go get yourself a couple shiner bochs and a pizza. Enjoy.

  21. Wow, congratulations!

*fingers crossed for a promise kept*

Have you ever been to NY?
If you haven't, and want some inside info ... you know where to find me.

  23. Congrats! All that hard work, deprivation, and suffering is now coming to fruit. Have fun in NY! I've drove thru there once. Scared the beejezus out of me!!!

  24. M - Thank you, and I had a mini-celebration with fajitas, chips/salsa and some Negro Modelos and it made me sick. I must ease back into the grease and salt.

Sherry - I appreciate you keeping your fingers crossed as that's my approach as well. And I've been to NYC once, and I think I'll check back with you as it gets closer and looks like it will actually happen.

Symplyamused - I wouldn't recommend driving there as walking and cabs are the way to go whenver possible. Thanks a lot.

  25. Congratulations and Good Luck! It is hard to go at least 10 more weeks with the carrot dangling.

  26. Carmel Says:
  27. That's awesome news! Really, January/Feb is not all that far off.
It's certainly nice to hear. Congratulations.

  28. Sarcastic - Thanks and I'm trying not to focus on that part - yet.

Carmel - It was nice for me as well, and as I said, we'll see if it actually happens as a lot can change in that amount of time. But thanks a lot as it was definitely a spot of good news this week.
