Moving sucks.
There is no upside to the experience until you have finally emptied the last box in your new place and poured yourself a strong drink.
But until that point, it's all about dealing with expensive movers who don't care that they spill a box of your books onto the street or trying to convince the electric company that you shouldn't have to pay a ridculous $200 deposit for no good reason at all or maybe it's just trying to find a particular item that is hidden among a sea of boxes.
Luckily, that experience is now largely gone, and here's some pics of the new loft near downtown Austin:
{Rooftop deck where there will be patio furniture, plants, a grill, a mini-fridge, and possibly a hot tub or pool in the next few months}
It's still far from finished, but the worst is over - until the bills for everything start rolling in.

Wow, sweet pad!
Idig - Thanks & that poster is one of my prize possessions as it took A LOT of tracking down and several hundreds of dollars to secure. I've also got a tattoo on of the symbol on my back.
Luce - All compliments are appreciated, and it's starting to actually be fun to live in now that the boxes are gone.
Jenni222 - That is exactly the thinking, and there is a big housewarming party planned for September when things start to cool off a little bit.
I know the feeling! I had bills coming in I thought were already final when I moved in June. Not to mention TRANSFER fees! Good luck in the new place. Looks great!!Sweet view too!!
screw moving amen amen.
i expect to be on the VIP list for your house parties. your private jet can pick me up in Miami.
Oh la la!!! Tres chic!!!!!
I am soooo in love with your new place!
the place looks great!
Symply- It's amazing just how many deposits and how many ways they try to screw you, but the view might make up for it. Maybe.
Julia - My jet is currently on hiatus due to the heightened security concerns, however, I hear they are doing great things with Greyhounds these days. The party will definitely be worth an 72(?) hr bus trip.
Nancy Drew - A little chicness (is that a word) never hurt anyone.
Dizzy - Now that things are finally settling down I can say the same thing, but I appreciate the sentiment.
Carmel - It's a work in progress, but at least now most of the work is in the past - and that's a relief.
Wow, that does look like a really great place!! I love that patio and i agree, good for parties, bbq's and suntanning of course :)
that is an incredible pad.
and to think - you can afford it because you work for a guy you go on the lake and sing metal ballads with?
i am truly jealous!
;D
next time i am in Austin, i'm haning out on your rooftop!!!
Very nice place. I understand the "move". I am still in the emptying box stage looking forward to the strong drink part.
Miss Ash - I forgot to mention tanning, but that's definitely being taken advantage of despite the heat. And a grill should be coming in short order.
Wit & Humor - Give it a few months and we'll see where it goes.
Cassie D - I'd wait at least a month to really test the roof as it's still hot as hell down here, and life is funny sometimes as it doesn't seem all that reasonable to get paid to sing metal on boats. Unless of course that metal is Winger and then you couldn't pay me enough.
Samantha - Good luck getting to the drink part because nearly everything until that point flat-out sucks.
It's freakin awesome.
im jealous.
and oh my god... poster... hunter s. thompson... *gaping mouth*
I know it's not nice to say or feel this but Im jealous
by the way anonymous is me, ehhh blogger sucks
Dr - I was wondering if you were going to miss the framed Thompson piece. It took a lot of work to get that.
Emma - Blogger does suck as it tries to screw you at the worse times, and we don't consider jealousy a bad thing around here.
