Apocalypse Now . . .

"This generation may be the one that will face Armageddon," - Ronald Reagan

I hate to forecast doom, but lately a string of events has precipitated what could be the end of the world we know it.

Maybe Reagan was right after all.

Hell is freezing over. The train has left the station. The Four Horseman could be riding at this very instant to usher in the apocalypse, which will bring hellfire and brimstone upon us all.

It seems serious this time, and I have the fear in a big way.

Up will soon be down.

Black will turn white.

Those with no discernible talents will soon be overflowing with it.

The truly scary thing is that this process of reversal has already begun with Kevin Federline's well-received performance at the Teen Choice Awards over the weekend.

A few reviews:

"It wasn't genius, but it wasn't half bad either."

"I was expecting more dancing from the dude, you know. But he's OK. He's doing his thing."

In a loose white shirt and white hat, Federline prowled and jumped around the stage like a caged hyena, surrounded by young dancers.

"I ain't here to brag," he rapped in a tough-guy style.

No shit.

What exactly would you be bragging about as fathering children out of wedlock and taking hand-outs from your famous wife don't rhyme very well.

But the main thing that I took from these reviews was that there wasn't universal ridicule. There was some, but the positive reactions shook me to my very core and started this apocalyptic pendulum in motion.

And then Paris Hilton's debut album, "Paris" (probably titled as such so she wouldn't forget it during the press junket), was released today.

I've already read several good reviews of this project as it is supposedly very danceable, slick and enjoyable.

What is the world coming to if K-Fed and Paris are suddenly hot and popular musical entertainers?

Can the world stand this without imploding?

Questions. Questions.

There are simply too many to answer early on a Tuesday morning, however, I'm watching the sky very carefully today because it might start falling at any given moment.

Beware.

  2. i agree. "the plane has crashed into the mountain" when these 2 no talent lame-os are still getting media attention.

who ACTUALLY cares about these people, and why does the media continue to cover them? I am still boggled at all the hype the no talent hollywood elite are recieving. has this always happened and i've just never noticed? why is nicole ritchie all over the papers as well? they don't even DO anything in hollywood except go to the parties!

    WHY GOD?

    WHY?

  4. Oh i watched the much hyped K-Fed performence in sheer horror. The only likeable thing about this travesty was the dancers in the background. They were enjoyable and had talent, K-fed on the other hand was neither enjoyable nor talented.

  6. I'm not sure the Book of Revelations discusses KFug or Paris. St. John the Divine had many hallucinations on the Isle of Patmos, but I'll bet there wasn't enough peyote on that rock to make him see those two.

  8. You and many others would be wondering the same thing, Kevin and Paris in the "hot" list. Sheesh. I heard some of the music from "Paris" and it's totally computerized. Oh well.

  9. Cassie D - Something has gone horribly wrong when you can continually be in the media yet have no discernible point of view or talent.

Miss Ash - I'm surprised you didn't have to claw your eyeballs out after witnessing such a performance.

Melissa - A little peyote might have helped watch the performance, however, if I was tripping and ever saw Paris or K-Fed I might never return from the abyss.

Idig - I would have loved to have read your quote in a family newspaper as it seems to be more accurate than many that I did read.

Carmel - Computerized to drown out her voice more than likely.

  11. Top-Notch Entertainment!

  12. It's easy when you have top-notch talents like Paris and K-Fed.

The cream rises to the top baby.

  13. I'm with Cassie D. As to cream rising to the top...think sewage. So do the big chunks.

  14. Clearly news is moving very slow coming out of the entertainment world when K-Fed and Paris are continually in the news. However, I would say most of it has to do with the fact people just love train wrecks and these have to be 2 of the biggest. Not only that how can you not feel for someone who says her own music makes her cry...we just don't know if she is crying because it is so good or her ears hurt.

  15. Nancy Drew - That is a nasty, but likely accurate visual image of the chunky sewage and that pair would definitely be riding the wave.

Sarcastic - I had not heard that quote, but I would suspect the tears were due to the pain inflicted and not because of the beauty.

  17. I heard part of K-Fed's rap the other day on the radio.

It was one of the most depressing things I have ever heard.

K-Fed has a CD, Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, Paris and other equally un-talented people do too.

What is the world coming to?

  18. I have an uncomfortable feeling it might be ending soon due to some of the reasons you just detailed as Hilary had slipped my mind.

    Scary.
