It's early, but I've got a traveling cup full of coffee and I'm driving out of town for the weekend.
I wish I could say I was jetting to Puerta Vallarta for some sun and splashing. Or driving the California coast onwards toward Big Sur. If I had enough money, I would board a plane for Florence, Italy on a whim for red wine and galleries and dining.
But any one of those would be a heinous lie as I'm simply driving from Austin to Oklahoma, where my grandparents reside for an early 4th of July celebration on a semi-large piece of land between Ada and nowhere.
In other words, my brother and I are off to blow shit up and eat fried chicken to celebrate Independence Day in advance. Culture will have to wait until Monday when I return (with all appendages intact from the fireworks).

I knew a guy who lit a firework on a ship, the bucket fell over and the firework went off, right into his leg.....OUCH!!! So, good luck to you haha. Enjoy the weekend.
Have fun and be careful. Every year hundreds of people burn themselves on... fried chicken.
The end of your post reminds me of those funny fireworks safety videos we keep running on the news where mannequins get various body parts/appendages blown off. Pretty funny (but not for the mannequin)

Jlee - I hit some of the rain for sure (how can you miss it these days?). And I love those fireworks safety commercials - they always make me want to go light some off.
I'm just catching up on your postings and saw that you were driving up to OK. I drove up there on the 29th myself. Came back the same day though. Glad you enjoyed it!
That's funny, and it was raining of course. Ha. It was a good time, just too much driving for one weekend for me.
