I recently saw this picture of Val Kilmer, and it just made me feel disillusioned as it's always disturbing to see actors you like let themselves completely go.
What happened to the intellectual slacker of "Real Genius"?
Or the rival to Tom Cruise in "Top Gun"?
Wyatt Earp's best friend in perhaps his finest role?
But now, he seems to be on a bloated slide towards utter softness and he looks very content to be there. I suppose he's earned the right to do so, however, it still irritates me for entirely selfish reasons.

It irritates me too. You forgot to mention "Willow". He was hot in that one. Well, we'll be watching you too when you hit middle age to see what happens ;)
He looks like he is ready for Celebrity Fit Club. And you're right - he does look very content.
He was sooo freaking hot in Top Gun and the Doors!!! Such a shame...just like Cory Haim haha, he was a hottie in the 80's and puffed out bigtime. Boooo!
Okay, I'll give ya Doc, but c'mon Val Kilmer. I'm disturbed that people actually like this guy.
What happened to the worst Batman?
Or the guy who got upstaged by some dude in a monkey suit in Dr. Moreau?
The Saint?
Thunderheart?
Perhaps he's starring in an upcoming miniseries: "The Beau Bridges Story."
Jlee - I know a lot of people dig Willow, but I put it in the middle of his work. As for the middle age spread, I figure I'll be fit and virle until 65 and then all bets are off. Ha.
Sarcastic - That's a good idea, although he would easily be the most famous person on that program by far.
Miss Ash - I forgot about Cory Haim, and it's a surprise he lasted as long as he did with only marginal talent. Kilmer is actually pretty good a lot of the time.
WhatIgot - His resume is very hit or miss, but when Kilmer's good, he's really good. My take: Clooney was the worst Batman. Dr. Moreau was just a putrid movie, and even Marlon Brando should have been embarrased by that one. The Saint and Thunderheart were just mediocre, but not awful. Lately, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang was also an excellent film where Kilmer nailed his role.
Wendy - Missed you in Cyberspace, but you're right as he looks alarmingly like Beau. But both look pretty content.
maybe he is just researching a role...doing a 'Marlon Brando..the later years' biography for Lifetime?
Speaking of has beens...have you caught any of this show called 'Scott Baio, 45 and single'? yikes. the guy is kind of a dick....and apparently a small one at that (according to his first sex partner...Erin Moran/Joanie)
Oh God, getting old sucks. I saw this picture and tried to put it out of my mind... but here it is. S.Houswife took my line "he's ready for Celebrity Fit Club."
What a waste. *sigh*
It's not always easy keeping that weight off once you hit "that age"...as long as he is happy, I'm not judging him. : )
Vivavavoom - I thought about the "prepping for a role" angle, but I haven't heard anything. And I know of the Scott Baio show, but I just can't bring myself to watch it (and TV is pretty damn bad this summer in general per usual).
Anonymous Boxer - It can be rough, but I think everyone has a choice about staying in decent shape or not. Hell, Harrison Ford is way older and in far better shape the Kilmer.
Symplyamused - I think that you're right about him being happy, and if so, that's great for him. Weight is not a bad thing per se, I just hate when actors you liked when you were younger start to just look sloppy. Selfish, but . . .
It's sad cos Val's a hottie.
I loved kiss kiss bang bang.
And he looked great with long hair in the doors and the saint.
I think he's a good actor, just made some bad choices.
Idig - Jerry Lewis. Ha. And maybe your explanation would explain the contentness of his look.
GirlFriday - Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang was excellent. And I think he can act pretty well, his career is just a mixed bag like most actors, although he's been great several times too.
