{This is the Twelfth in a semi-regular series of posts regarding great cinematic sex scenes as defined by me. This is completely arbitrary and open for interpretation, but so is life.}
I enjoyed the "American Pie" movies more than I anticipated. There was always a layer of decency embedded with the cast of friends which was kept intact no matter how outrageous the situation.
The scene that earned the first film - "American Pie" - a place in the all-time sex Hall of Fame featured those elements with the added bonus of Shannon Elizabeth standing around topless for a large portion of it. It begins roughly half-way through the running time after Elizabeth comes to Jason Bigg's house for tutoring.
He then leaves her alone in his bedroom to compose himself.
While he's away, Elizabeth finds Bigg's porn stash, and like most normal people, she begins pleasuring herself. To add to the scene, the whole thing is being recorded via webcam, and viewed by Bigg's friends.
Upon re-entering the room, Biggs finds himself standing next to the ultimate object of his lust, sitting on the bed, semi-nude and leafing through pornography (Again, this happened all the time in high school for me). In case you haven't seen this film, I won't ruin the rest of the scene, however, it is pretty damn funny and also sad due to painful male dancing (Biggs), webcam issues and premature ejaculation.
This was not a scene that would get you hot and bothered, however, the humor/nudity combination still pushed it over the top and into a romantic exchange worthy of recognition.

Who under the age of 40 hasn't seen American Pie?
NOW you're creepin' down my alley ! Shannon Elizabeth looked GREAT in this movie (all 100lbs of her). I'm PROUD of you, 2 Dollar. You're quickly becoming the "Poor Man's Mr. Skin".
WhatIgot - Good question. I assume (hope) that number is very, very low. If not, the cultural landscape is suffering.
Heff - Law of averages Heff. Law of averages. And Elizabeth never looked better (nor will she) than in that scene. I laugh at Mr. Skin, and only really know about him from "Knocked Up."
It's a "classic" I agree - too bad they killed it with sequels... although American Pie Presents The Naked Mile was pretty damn funny.
Good God, did I just type that?
Yeah I want to know how many of your readers have not seen it...shockingly i've seen this one Ha!
Anonymous Boxer - Ha. Yes, a lot of things look far worse written down then in your head. At least I've found that to be true. And the law of diminishing returns definitely set in, but I thought the second movie was still really funny.
Miss Ash - You were my litmus test as I figured if anybody hadn't seen it . . . Ha. Good to know you're up on this one as I own 1, 2 and 3 on DVD.
I just got the trio for my son for xmas. & once at band camp...
Nobich - Nice gift. Who doesn't know/laugh at the "and this one time at bandcamp" line? Ha. Good stuff.
Jlee - That is another good one for sure. I like when she slaps him or shoves her fist in his face as well. That's comedy. Ha.
I have to agree that it was a hilarious scene.
Trina - Very true, and it still makes me laugh after seeing it several times over.
I think I'm one of the few people in the universe that have not seen this. I've walked in and out of the room when my kids were watching it, I think I'm just too old. I really like a lot of the work many of the actors have done since. (esp. dir. Paul Weitz) I've just never been able to sit thru this one.
Signed,
Over 40 *sigh*
I like Weitz as well. You really should take a look at this movie as there's some inherent decency, and good-heartedness (sp? word?) at the core of this series, which is a smart choice and it's just pretty funny too.
OK, so I rented it. I saw it, I loved it, Eugene Levy is my hero! Not only is this a great comedy, with great performances from such a young cast, it also has a heart. Thanks!
I'm glad you liked it, and I meant to mention the Eugene Levy connection when I recommended it. He was great as always.
