Ho, Ho, Ho . . .

{Editor's Note: I already did my Tara Reid post, so this title has more to do with Christmas than D-list starlets.}

Christmas Day has finally brought me back to a computer as my holiday started last Thursday in Austin. Since then, I have driven to Dallas before moving onto Oklahoma to visit family (and where my grandparents know about "the Internet" but don't care to explore the concept any further).

After celebrating the holiday early, I'm back in Austin before moving onto Houston tomorrow to visit my best friend and his wife, who have traveled from their home in Dublin, Ireland.

Then it's back to Austin to blow out New Year's Eve at my loft, a holiday event which doesn't excite me that much because unlike Groundhog Day, I consider this annual year-end event to be extremely overrated.

So, once I can shake off my New Year's Day hangover by surrounding it with grease, aspirin, two mimosas, a slice of pie and 2 pots of coffee, I can fly to Taos, NM to visit in-laws and ski like a greased weasel down the ski slopes.

All of this is one excuse after another for my continued absence until January 8th.

And more importantly, this post exists to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or if you hate the holiday like treatment-resistant TB, then simply enjoy the time off. I, however, am an unabashed fan of Christmas.

It's got a jolly old man who arbitrarily decides your fate:

There's always candy around to snack on with friends:

But there's just something about a well-lighted Christmas tree that does it for me (this is our family tree post-gift opening):

  2. Whew....that's a lot of miles travelled there $2. Be safe on the roads and in the air and we'll see you when you get back. I agree with you about New Years Eve....it should be special to me because it's the night I met my husband but I really don't get all the hoopla.

  4. Ah sharing treats with friends. If only that's what it really meant. Merry Christmas, be safe in your travels.

  5. Gypsy - I appreciate it, and plan to have safe travels and as much fun as possible. As for New Year's, you definitely have a legitimite connection as that is a better reason to celebrate than most.

Getoffmylawn - Ha. I know there's all sorts of uglier things that gets mixed in this time of year, however, I am able to overlook them in late December far better than any other point during the year. Thanks for the travel wishes.

  7. I hope you're not getting the torrential rain we're getting up north. It sucks driving in that mess. Anyway, hope you got a huge package for Xmas!

(I had to keep the package theme going...)

  9. Lets talk about what New Years is really about. Alcohol. Enjoy your time off BDS. Drinks lots and stay safe :)

  10. Jlee - Nope. It's sunny down here (light rain this morning), so things are looking up (even though I'm at work). And I got that package many moons ago. Ha. Hope you had a hell of a good holiday yourself.

Upset Waitress - Of course. You're completely right about New Year's as it's alcohol and cab rides and hangovers and confetti and drunken embraces and much more. Enjoy yours and be safe down your way. That's always an imperative.

  12. I asked for Jenny McCarthy for Christmas one year. The Bastard wouldn't come off of her !

  14. Merry Christmas, dear $$. Safe home when it's all done and enjoy it until then!

  16. happy holidays...may you and your wife be blessed with many big packages this time of year ;)

  17. Heff - He is a greedy, greedy man underneath it all. And now Jim Carrey has her. Life can be brutal.

Bostonpobble - Right back to you Pobble. I hope things are well, and they continue to go that way as 2008 inches closer. Thanks for the good wishes.

Vivavavoom - Ha. Yes, those big packages tend to benefit everyone involved. It's an altruistic gesture in some capacity. Happy Holidays.

  18. Enjoy your travels. I hope you had a Merry Christmas, and that you have a Happy New Year. Even if it is overrated.

  19. Jenny Says:
  20. Happy Holidays - at home and beyond, 2$. My idea of a good new year's is to be in bed by 11:00 - I'm usually happily burned out by the time the 31st rolls around.

And as for the trip to New Mexico... that sounds perfect.

    See you on the 8th!

  21. Native Minnow - I appreciate it. And even if New Year's is overrated, it can still be great on occassion. Let's hope it's the latter for all of us this year.

Anonymous Boxer - Thanks and Happy Holidays to you. Taos should be great to see some snow around this time of year as I don't catch much in Austin. And finally, I think you can make midnight this year as there is a certain cachet (sp?) in ushering in the New Year. At least I like it.

  22. Grace Says:
  23. lol, I'm glad you enjoy Christmas for all the right reasons.

Merry Christmas! I Hope you have a great time with your loved ones.

  24. You are going to be a very busy man. But make sure to be safe and Happy Holidays!

  25. Grace - Of course. All the right and wrong and in-between ones. Ha. Merry Christmas to you.

Trina - A lot of travel, but it should be good. At least I hope so. Happy Holidays to you and enjoy the time.

  26. Miss Ash Says:
  27. I liked my Santa picture much better haha! Have fun skiing!

  28. Mr. DNA Says:
  29. Happy belated xmas! I'll be in EspaƱola NM about a week after you. Happy New Year. Have fun, drive safe.

  30. Joanna Cake Says:
  31. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to you, oh travelling one. I was sans internet for two days and it was like going cold turkey! For the first time in 25 years, I plan to spend New Years Eve naked in a man's bed doing unspeakably bad things. For the first time in 25 years Im looking forward to NYE :)

  32. What a coincidence! New Year's Eve, my hub and I will be wearing those very costumes in that third-to-last photo. I'm just trying to figure out where to get a Tribble.

  33. Miss Ash - We all see Santa in our own ways. Ha. And thanks as I am trying to avoid injuring myself on the slopes.

Mr. DNA - Thanks and small world, eh? I pass through Espanola on the drive from Alb. to Taos every single time. Have a good one.

Havingmycake - Ha. I don't blame you one single bit, and if everyone was in that boat, then mabye New Year's would be right at the top. Enjoy yourself.

Wendy - I'm sure you'll come up with the perfect solution. And I'm glad to hear the Dager household is really getting into the spirit of the holidays. Ha. Have a good time.
