Quick Hit Friday . . .

“It's dark and lonely work, Harry - like oral sex, but someone has to do it.” – Pierce Brosnan, “The Tailor of Panama”

‘Tailor’ was a little-seen, but extremely solid film that also co-starred Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis. Personally, I refuse to do much of any kind of work today as I figure everything can hold until Monday. Besides, after a long week, I also have my parents arriving in town, a concert to attend, Father’s Day brunch plans and loads of other responsibilities piling on by the minute.

But before I become overwhelmed, let’s take a look at the hard stories of the week such as:

Today” weatherman Al Roker refused to apologize for a contentious interview with reality show stars Spencer and Heidi Pratt this week about their behavior on NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here.”

On Monday morning’s show, Roker asked Heidi whether she was proud of the way the couple acted on TV. As Heidi talked, Roker interrupted her and asked, “No, the question is, are you proud of this?” Roker also told Spencer that people think he acts like a “jerk.”

Heidi said she cried after the interview and Spencer said it was a good thing he is “saved by Jesus” or he would have “ripped” Roker’s head off. Seriously.

Roker laughed off Spencer’s remarks, telling co-host Meredith Vieira: “If he had tried to come across, I would’ve dumped him like a bag of dirt.”

I never thought I would say this, but Al Roker is my hero.

Sarah Palin accepted David Letterman's apology this week after the late-night host had joked last week about one of Palin's daughters being "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez.

Says Letterman: "I'm sorry about it, and I'll try to do better in the future." The Alaska governor says she hopes the apology will help change attitudes about men who joke about the sexual exploitation of young girls.

She means you Woody Allen, and she’s coming after you next.

London police are investigating allegations that jewelry was stolen after an Elle fashion shoot featuring actress Lindsay Lohan.

London's Metropolitan police confirmed that a necklace and earrings worth around more than $400,000 were missing. A police spokesman said no arrests have been made in the case and would not comment on whether Lohan had been interviewed or was even related to the case in any way.

The fashion magazine said in a statement Tuesday it had no reason to believe that Lohan was in any way linked to the alleged theft.

In a related story, a cocaine purchase totaling $400,000 was rumored to have occurred in Hollywood this week and paid for in small, unmarked bills.

Billy Joel and his wife, Katie Lee, have split with age differences and rumors of an affair dogging the couple.

“After nearly five years of marriage, Billy and Katie have decided to separate,” a rep told Access Hollywood. “The decision is the result of much thought and consideration. Billy and Katie remain caring friends, with admiration and respect for each other.”

According to the NY Daily News, Lee, 27, has been spotted out regularly with Yigal Azrouel, a 36-year-old fashion designer from Israel. “Their breakup has nothing to do with Yigal,” Joel’s spokeswoman, Claire Mercuri, told the paper. “Their decision to separate was absolutely unrelated to Yigal.”

An unnamed friend told the paper that age played a factor in the breakup — Billy Joel, who turned 60 in May, was 33 years older than his wife. “It was really the age difference that caught up with them,” a friend of the couple told the Daily News.

This news made Michael Douglas very, very nervous.

In other divorce news, Usher filed for divorce from his wife, Tameka Foster Raymond, after less than two years of marriage and court documents reveal the pair had not been living together for more than a year.

The divorce petition stated the couple has lived separately since July 2008, and said there is "no reasonable hope of reconciliation.”

I bet, however, there is more than a “reasonable hope” that Tameka gets a load of money in the divorce settlement and the R&B singer will Usher in a parade of groupies to sleep with.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor said the band’s performance Sunday at the Bonnaroo Music Festival was their last in the country.

"It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States," Reznor said during his band's set. "Don't be sad. I'll keep going. But I think I'm going to lose my ... mind if I keep doing this, and I have to stop."

Something tells me Reznor will be willing to put his sanity up for sale once again whenever NIN announces their inevitable comeback tour.

Police decided against pursuing a criminal vandalism case Jessica Alba this week after the actress helped mount posters that were plastered around downtown Oklahoma City.

Police Sgt. Gary Knight said none of the owners of property on which the posters were placed wanted to press charges against Alba, who has apologized.

The property owners were persuaded to drop the charges when Alba apologized to them personally while wearing her outfit from ‘Sin City.’

Sean Penn dropped out of two high-profile films: "The Three Stooges" and the crime thriller "Cartel," this week and is taking an extended leave from Hollywood so that he can focus on family matters, according to sources.

In May, Penn filed for a request to dismiss his legal separation case from wife Robin Wright Penn. It is the second time he has rescinded divorce proceedings.

Something tells me Penn is going to 'Milk' this attention for all its worth during his absence.

As always, let’s end with a gold image or two:

The words blonde and trashy come to mind for some reason or another. But sometimes that is all you really need, so don’t be afraid to pursue your blonde ambition today, feel free to break out the latex and . . . Happy Friday!

  2. Gee, a lot of goings-on in Hollywood this week. Aren't Sean Penn and Wright allegedly breaking up every other week? Rip that band aid off already! ha
The Michael Douglas comment gave me a good chuckle ;)
Have a good Father's Day weekend!

  4. That photo with the car, nice!

I love Happy Fridays! (You gotta get to work on a Happy Monday. That's the day I need some happy the most.)

  6. Okay, after the page reloaded following posting my comment, I saw the new word verification. It is 'urine.' Not piss or golden showers or peepee, but urine.

  7. nobich Says:
  8. Happy Friday & have a great weekend!

  10. Funny, that Al Roker turns out to be the hard hitting interviewer that no one else was willing to do. I was happy somone finally called B-Shit on two of the most overrated people on the planet.

I've always been sad when I read that Penn and Wright were breaking up. Spicoli and Princess Buttercup .... I hope they can live happiy ever after.

Have a great weekend. Practice those martinis! There comes a time in a man's life when he starts drinking the strong stuff... straight up.

  11. I think Heidi and Spencer are going through the Rob and Amber from Survivor phase. I hope it is sooner than later when we never hear about them again.

Letterman shouldn't have had to apologize. I think his joke was in poor taste, but that's his job...

Is it disturbing that I love Mean Girls, and always stop to watch it when it's on tv no matter where I catch it from?

Billy Joel just can't hold on to his uptown girls. He can't afford them anymore.

NIN will be back. I'm not worried.

The property that Alba and others vandelized was mostly United Way buildings. I saw an interview with the OKC president that said he wasn't pressing charges - and thanked her for the free press in tough times for non-profits.
Apparently, Alba, Kate Hudson and Casey Afleck are in town for 3 months filming a movie.

Sean Penn gets a weirder by the hour.

    Happy Weekend

  13. Quick Heff Friday !!!

"Heff is currently RACKED with tasks !!"

BTW - Jamie Lee Curtis has a damn fine rack, herself !

Have a Great weekend, BDS !

  14. Jlee – And I even dropped some stories because I was busy (Robert Pattinson getting hit by cab for example). Ha. Some weeks are like that. I’m glad you got a laugh from the Douglas line as I think he’s like 20 years (?) older than Zeta-Jones. Happy Friday to you & have a good weekend.

WIGSF – Don’t take the urine word verification as a directive for the day or it could lead to something far from a Happy Friday. Glad you liked the pic & a Happy Monday would take some supreme effort because I usually just want a quiet one. Happy Friday

Nobich – Right back at you . . . Enjoy yours!

Boxer – I thought the same thing about Roker & yes, they have to be two of the most overrated people on the planet. I have developed an intense loathing for them . . . Loved the Spicoli and Buttercup reference and I hope they work it out too. Finally, I will practice the martinis, but I’ve got to get a Boston Shaker to add to the bar. I’m just getting started as it’s been mostly stockpiling beer & wine to this point. Happy Friday.

Kmwthay – I appreciate the detail, so I really hope Speidi disappears forever as soon as tomorrow, I agree about Letterman (and it was a bad joke), ‘Mean Girls’ is a good movie – seriously – so don’t feel bad about watching it, should have used your Joel line, agree 100% about NIN, interesting about the Alba story as I didn’t know that and Happy Friday & Weekend.

Heff – That’s a good way to be busy, eh? Ha. Enjoy it, yourself & have a damn good weekend.

  16. Wow B, you are on fire this week with plenty of fodder from Tinseltown in an otherwise boring week.

Where to start? I don't know who these Spencer and Heidi people are but it sounds like I am one of the lucky ones. Just mentioning the words "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" screams low rent, D grade celebs so I figure I'm not missing much.

That pic of the equally "low rent" Lindsay Lohan?.....please tell me those are dark knickers she's wearing?

In the news about Billy Joel and Katie Lee's upcoming divorce due to their age difference...what, this is news to them that he had probably already been married and divorced to Christy before Katie was even born? I loved the Michael Douglas comment too...good work.

Jessica Alba looks hot in that outfit and the woman in the latex outfit just looks HOT. I broke out in a sweat just looking at that picture but probably not for the same reasons as your male readers. Eww....uncomfortable.

Have a great weekend B. Keep up the good work :)

  17. Linda Says:
  18. Loved the Tailor of Panama, been a while since I've seen it. So Pailin had no problem exploiting young girls during her campaign. She took her youngest out of school for weeks and paraded her pregnant daughter all over the country. She's a beaut. Funny, when Letterman made the joke, I thought he was making fun of A-rod. He's been a lot of fun to watch these days, milking that situation for all the comedy he can find. Good batch of news this week, glad to see Lohan back in the lineup, what a train wreck. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Friday!

  19. Nicely done, as always! Have a good weekend.

  20. Gypsy – Thanks as there was plenty of news this week. Ha. You’re lucky you don’t know about Pratt & Heidi & don’t waste any brain cells finding out – seriously. They are below D-list . . . Lindsay is wearing something called Spanx that she’s showing off in that picture (I think she sells her own line or something but don’t quote me on that), exactly on Joel and his soon to be ex-wife as I would have bet against that lasting, Alba looked great in ‘Sin City’ and that much latex would be hot, but then again, peeling it off would be quite fun too. Ha. Happy Friday & have a great weekend.

Linda – I know. I had totally forgotten about the ‘Tailor’ but as I was wracking my brain to come up with a movie quote for this week, it just leapt out at me. Ha. Sometimes, you get lucky. And I agree about Palin and the whole thing got so blown out of proportion it was somewhat ridiculous. I haven’t been watching Letterman, but figured he was mining it for gold. Ha. Have a great weekend (not sure if I’m going to see any movies this weekend).

Native Minnow – Thanks as there was plenty of ammunition to play with this week. Happy Friday.

  21. Miss Ash Says:
  22. Awww whatever will I do next summer....I will be lost without a NIN concert *sniff*

I just saw Sin City last week for the 1st time....why does that one character resemble Harry Potter??

  23. Photo Cop Says:
  24. The LeCarre book was pretty good. Is that a splotch of bondo on that Rolls Royce? To the left of the hot blonde's vagina?

  25. One more thing. A friend of mine took his girlfriend to see Sin City when it was playing in theaters. During one of the Jessica Alba scenes he thought, "Damn! She looks good." Then his girlfriend turned to look at him and he thought, "Wait, did I just say that out loud?" Turned out that he had.

  26. Hermes Says:
  27. "Don't be sad". Why does Res Renor think he's Jesus or something? He could stop writing music tomorrow and the world wouldn't weep. You're right about the comeback tour.

  28. Amélie Says:
  29. It's so nice to see you guys are still here! :) You might not remember me, I left the blogger world 2 years ago... but I did get a 2 dollar productions shirt form you guys back then, and I even took a photo to show :)

Anyways, I'm back on the blogosphere now, but under a different name for privacy.

So many people stopped blogging/moved its nice to see you guys are still still here :)

  30. Miss Ash - He didn't rule out Canada, so you might be just fine. Ha. And I need to re-watch 'Sin City' as I haven't seen it since the theater for some reason.

Photo Cop - I've never read much LeCarre, although I've heard he's pretty good and always had a mind to get into his work at some point. And good eyes if you can spot that as I think most people were distracted. Ha. The details matter. Always.

Native Minnow - That's great. Ha. Maybe that's why I think I saw 'Sin City' alone, or at least without my wife.

Getoffmylawn - I know, right. Ha. And yes, there will definitely be a comeback tour, it's only a matter of when. Finally, all that being said, I love Johnny Cash's version on NIN's 'Hurt' and if you haven't heard that, then you should find it. Definitely.

Amelie - We're still around, still trucking, for good or for ill. Ha. I'm glad you found your own way back to Cyberspace, and hope you're still getting use from the shirt. I'd love to catch back up with your blog, and if you're under an invitation-only scenario, email over the link/password when you get the chance. Thanks.
