Quick Hit Friday . . .

Posted by 2 Dollar Productions Friday, January 16, 2009

"I would like to invite you both to spend the weekend. We'll eat well, we'll drink wine, we'll make love." - Javier Bardem, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona"

You have to admire an up-front invitation like that, and I only wish I had tried such honesty back in college (and also had as much success as Bardem does in the film).

But honesty has no place in the office today as spewing out criticism on a range of topics would not be wise. Besides, it's Friday and that kind of ugly thinking can hold until Monday, which leaves more time to study the truly riveting news of the week such as:

Fergie and Josh Duhamel were married this past week in Malibu at a ceremony with a white fantasy theme and the event took place under magnolias filled with thousands of white roses, People magazine reported.

For their first dance, the couple continued on the flower power theme and free-styled to Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

Howie Mandel was hospitalized in Canada Monday with an irregular heartbeat after taping his new show "Howie Do It!", his publicist said.

"Howie is in the hospital being monitored for an irregular heartbeat but doctors expect him to be released and back to work tomorrow," Kay said in a statement. "He did not have a heart attack."

In fairness, his body probably just revolted at having to be associated with a TV show carrying such a stupid name.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen and New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady are now engaged, according to People magazine.

As for the wedding, "The couple is discussing a huge fashionista event in the spring or a more intimate and quicker ceremony in Costa Rica, where Gisele has a home," the source tells the publication.

As for me, I plan to weep in anger regardless of the size of the ceremony.

Singer/actress Hilary Duff signed this week to play a young lawyer in a future NBC sitcom titled "Barely Legal," a comedy based on the true story of an 18-year-old who passed the California Bar Exam in 2007.

I'd suggest a title change unless the show wants a demographic that NO advertiser wants to sell towards.

Amy Winehouse's jailed husband - Blake Fielder-Civil - began divorce proceedings this week seeking a divorce on the grounds of the soul diva's alleged infidelity.

Winehouse and Fielder-Civil married in May 2007, but he was arrested six months later over an assault and sentenced to 27 months in jail. Fielder-Civil was later released into a drug rehab center but sent back to prison weeks later for breaching his bail conditions.

Winehouse's lawyer has filed a counter-suit for divorce because Fielder-Civil is "a fucking moron."

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced the name of their new daughter this week as: Seraphina Rose Elizabeth.

If nothing else, Seraphina's restrained name goes to show just how badly most Hollywood parents choose in selecting ridiculous monikers for their poor children.

Naomi Campbell ended her legal tussle with a former maid this week after the ex-employee accused the supermodel of hitting her and calling her names.

Gaby Gibson, who worked for Campbell from November 2005 through January 2006, was reported to be happy with the settlement, although terms of the settlement were kept confidential.

That being said, Gibson has already hired a team of maids for her new apartment and plans to start tossing phones at them immediately since that is the behavior she's come to expect.

As always, let's end with a gold image (s):

I personally enjoy a little sexy behavior while sitting at home or buying produce at the grocery store. So, remember that any area can turn erotic, don't be afraid to put yourself on full display and . . . Happy Friday!

  2. Due to time restraints, Heff cannot play "QHF Post Jack" today.

Have a good one anyway, BDS !

  4. So what's this I hear about Amy Winehouse stealing drinks in the Caribbean & "running off like a squirrel with a nut"?? Did you hear about this?
    Happy Friday!!

  6. Wouldn't surprise me if marketing research showed NBC's remaining 5 viewers are consumers of "Barely Legal" videos.

I've stolen your Golden Image Friday idea.

  8. Slow week it seems. Nothing incredibly stupid happened. Maybe celebrities have finally learned not to be so damn stupid.
Or maybe they're all just waiting to do something huge and monumentously stupid simultaneously.

  9. Heff - There's no need to make excuses for a lack of creativity for QHF Heff . . . Ha. Whatever the time constraints may be, Happy Friday.

Nobich - I heard she was in St. Lucia, but not the bit about stealing drinks. It's actually kind of funny if they wrote it that way about the squirrel. Happy Friday to you.

TheTroll - Son of a bitch. I knew it was only a matter of time before theft occurred . . . I'll have to come over & see the damage. Ha. And yes, you're likely right about NBC, although they still have the only sitcoms I watch these days in their line-up.

WhatIgot - I agree. It's been a slow year thus far. I'm hoping it's your latter theory and soon enough, once people wake up from their winter hibernation, that random acts of stupidity will dominate once again.

  11. I heard the squirrel- nut story about Winehouse as well, and had a chuckle at the mental image. In reality, it's a bit sad. Women all over New England are also weeping over the news of Brady's engagement. Happy Friday!

  13. Awww Shucks, no Heff-Bogarting. :-)

    Is Amy Winehouse still alive?

    Huh.

    Happy Friday 2Buck.

  14. Linda - I wish I would have picked up on the 'nut' story as I enjoy that kind of language. Ha. And I'm sorry to hear that others feel my pain regarding the Gisele/Brady union - although for entirely different reasons.

Boxer - She's apparently alive this week. I make no promises about the following one. Happy Friday & Have a great weekend.

  16. Did you see War, Inc? A new take on Hilary Duff, for me. Mind you...that only means I dislike her a little less now. Still...

  18. I had no idea Amy Whinehouse was married. They look and sound like a perfectly well suited couple to me. Did hubby really think Amy would sit home knitting while he did his stint in the Big House? Who did he think he married....Snow White?

  19. Two thoughts I had while reading this:

    1. My friend told me last night that there appeared to be a lot of sexual tension between me and a girl we recently met. He said he'd guarantee success if the next time we hung out I walked up behind her, put my arms around her waist and whispered "I think you and I should fuck." I think he just wants to see me get my ass kicked.

    2. Last weekend I was heading out to the grocery store to buy a few things before I showered. My roommate said I ought to rethink that because "You never know who you'll meet in the produce section." My response was, "The produce section? What's that?"

  20. Bostonpobble - I didn't see it, but know about the film because I tend to like John Cusack. I don't loathe Hillary Duff, and honestly, don't care much about her one way or the other (which puts her ahead of Lindsay Lohan I suppose). Ha.

Romany Angel - Winehouse is definitely NOT Snow White. Ha. And yes, I knew they were married because of all the drama and jail and other drug nonsense, and obviously the marriage wasn't doing either one of them any good, so why not get divorced?

Native Minnow - Ha on both items. 1) You might be able to pull that off depending on the exact situation and woman and considering how many drinks you've consumed, but then again, there's a fair chance of getting slapped. Regardless, it would make a fine blog post. 2) Now you know that a produce section does exist, and that you should wear something presentable just in case you run into someone like the woman pictured.

  21. Heff Says:
  22. Alrightee then. You've called me out....(Tightening belt, and sticking out chest)

First off, due to the movie having Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz in it, The movie should've been called "Vicky, Cristina, and my Bologna".

For Josh Duhamel to marry Fergie, she must have been screwing him so hard his testicles are now referred to as "The Black-eyed Peas".

Howie Mandel is one of the most irritating people in Hollywood in my opinion. I can't wait 'til NBC realizes the same, and comes up with the new show "Howie Fuck Him".

Tom Brady - what a lucky S.O.B. Hey, doesn't he have some illegitimate children to take care of somewhere, or somethin' ?!?

I've always wanted to see Hilary Duff in a film called "Barely Legal", but I don't think NBC and myself are exactly on the same page....

Winehouse and Fielder-Civil are divorcing on the grounds that they were "Accidentally Straight" when their marriage first occurred.

At least Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck chose NOT to name their kid "Elektra", as that would've sucked as bad as her movie of the same title.

Naomi Campbell should market a new video game for the Wii system : "Naomi Campbell's Pissed-Off Cellphone Toss", As it could earn some of her settlement losses back.

And regarding that last photo -"Heff, clean-up on isle four !!"

    I feel relieved.

  23. Miss Ash Says:
  24. How the hell do I get a booty like that???

  25. Heff - A man gets called out & responds . . . So, love a good Bologna pun, Mandell irritates me as well, Brady is living the dream, that's actually a good idea for Campbell that might sell, and if you were to assist in that clean-up, then there would likely be another one needed immmediately afterwards. Ha.

Miss Ash - I wish we both had her number & could call & ask detailed questions. Ha.
