Quick Hit Friday . . .

"Husband... negative. Children and a Labrador... negative. Tight little package... affirmative." - Matt Dillon, "There's Something About Mary"

I take off one day of vacation for my birthday this week, and the rest of it just gets busier as work waits for nobody, especially as I recently got a promotion. This could seriously derail my blogging, however, time management is a skill that I pride myself on - much like long division and nude juggling.

But let's ignore work for the moment, and focus on the stories of the week like:

Britney Spears was taken from her home by ambulance early Thursday and escorted to a hospital by more than a dozen police officers.

A Los Angeles police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said the 26-year-old pop star was being taken to "get help" but did not give the ambulance's destination. The Los Angeles Times, citing unidentified authorities, said Spears was taken to UCLA Medical Center to be placed on a "mental evaluation hold."

I've got nothing to add to this one except that it's about damn time, and Spears should stay there for a long enough for treatment to return her to the world that most of us inhabit on a daily basis.

Gwen Stefani's father-in-law announced this week that the singer is pregnant with her second child.

"They and the whole family are delighted," Douglas Rossdale told People.

The elder Rossdale is not going to be so "delighted" when Stefani sends a gang of Asians to trounce him for blowing the whistle about the baby, however, for now, he's in good spirits.

Tom Cruise is first on the list to get Ducati's newest motorcycle — a $72,500 superbike bristling with titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber technology that can scoot up to 200 mph.

Michael Lock, chief of Cupertino-based Ducati North America, said "We are delighted to be able to deliver the world's first production unit here in the USA to Tom Cruise, who is a well-known Ducati enthusiast."

Lock also mentioned that Cruise requested the super-fast bike as a reminder to Katie Holmes that she can NEVER outrun him if she tries to flee (again).

From here on out, Miley Cyrus will be known by a new name -- and it's not Hannah Montana -- as the pop star/actress officially changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus this week. Cyrus was actually born with the moniker Destiny Hope Cyrus.

With so many names, I have no idea how Cyrus keeps them all straight, and I think the whole thing is probably her accountant's idea to hide all the money she's raking in these days.

Duane "Dog" Chapman cannot be extradited to Mexico to face criminal charges in his capture of serial rapist and fugitive Andrew Luster in 2003, a three-judge panel in Mexico ruled Tuesday.

The ruling will have no effect on Chapman's show. The A&E network put Chapman's "Dog the Bounty Hunter" show indefinitely on hold last November after a private phone conversation between the reality star and his son Tucker was posted online where Chapman used a slur repeatedly in reference to his son's black girlfriend.

Regardless, Chapman was thrilled by the ruling, and stated afterwards that he was terrified of going to Mexico because he "don't like Hispanic people anymore than black people."

Ethan Hawke and his girlfriend, Ryan Shawhuges, are expecting their first child together after they initially met when Ryan worked as a nanny for the actor during his marriage to Uma Thurman.

“They are over the moon!” a pal tells In Touch about the pregnancy.

Somehow I doubt the couple will be hiring a female nanny once the baby arrives.

As always, let's end with a pleasing image:

Since it's February, early in the morning and semi-cold in Austin, a beach looks pretty good to me right now.

There's something about the bumps in the sand, and the swell of the ocean at high tide with its raw, circular power that leaves me emotionally erect. So, think about somewhere tropical, shed a layer or two of clothing and . . . Happy Friday!

  2. I've got this image of a troop of Japanese girls holding that old guy down while that assassin girl from Kill Bill cuts out his tongue. Then afterwards, a marathon game of Dance Dance Revolution.

  4. Don't let your promotion derail your blogging, 2 Dollar. PRIORITIES !

Your Friday posts are great. I think tha-TITS my favorite post of the week.

  5. WhatIgot - Exactly. I had Kill Bill in my mind's eye as well. But the Dance Revolution was a nice touch.

Heff - Never. Well, at least not right now. Ha. And I like Friday posts as well, maninly because it's Friday. Other than that, I have to compile crap all week for them. It's a dirty job, but . . .

  7. On the Spears front, do you think it's all a publicity stunt gone awry or do you think she's actually gone mad?

In the beginning of all the madness I thought the former, but now i'm thinking it's the latter. Granted, i'd go nuts too if I had people following me 24/7 taking pics of me. She should move to a secluded island for a year and relax.

  9. Happy Friday!

  10. Miss Ash - I like the island idea. And I actually do think that she's mentally disturbed. I was with you for awhile, but that girl needs professional help. I need an island. Ha.

Nobich - Happy Friday right bakc.

  12. Gosh, that girl's a mess. I still remember the day I bought a Backstreet Boys CD, and it came with a free sample CD with a few songs by Britney... back when she was starting to get into the music business. My, how she's changed since then.

As for that last picture, I actually had to stare a little while to figure out what I was looking at. I think that in order to keep your female readers interested, you should post a 'pleasing image' of a man for next Friday's post. And if you can't find anyone to pose, I volunteer you ;)

  14. Don't you hate it when things like work and responsibility get in the way of important stuff like blogging?????

  16. ^^^^^
Wot grace said! You should be looking after your female readers rather than posting pics of strangely deformed women.

  17. Grace - A mess indeed. It's such as mess right now that I wouldn't know where to start now. As for the final, pleasing image I will certainly file your suggestion away for future use. And give it due consideration. Ha.

Bostonpobble - Yes I do. I hate it when real life gets in the way of things. But this is a risk we run, and somebody has to pay me. This is a labor of love. Ha.

Havingmycake - That woman could (maybe) be construed as misshapen (sp?) in my book. But I would need a closer look. Next time.

  19. What a week! So many thoughts, so little time!
Something About Mary was filmed in RI (woo hoo!)love it!
Spears could come to RI and be left alone and get healthy (think that's what she wants?)
Ducatis are cool, Cruise is a PR dream for the cycle co.
Great photo of Hawke, just hope the GF has heard "once w/ the nanny ....."
We've got a nasty nor'easter going here tonite, I'll dream of warm days on the sand .. Happy Friday!

  21. I think I missed your "end shots" the most.

    Happy Friday, 2$

  22. Whatever you do, don't listen to Cake and Grace: Keep the girl pics coming. I implore you!

    I want a Ducati.

  23. Linda - I forgot that 'Mary' was filmed in RI, so I should have known you would like the connection. Ha. And Ducati's are cool as I wouldn't mind one either - I just wish I could get them for free like Cruise. Finally, I was kind on the Hawke image as many of the more recent ones I found had him looking pretty rough.

Anonymous Boxer - That's great news. I will not bend on this issue. Ha. Hope all is well.

Native Minnow - Don't worry as I have been ending with those kinds of shots for years now, and I subscribe to the theory of if it's not broke then don't fix it. I just imagine that one day I will run out of shots to find for it. But not anytime soon.

  25. I don't know about that last pic BDS. It's just not right. You usually do better than that hahha.

  26. vivavavoom Says:
  27. congrats on the promotion. hope it leads to more beach adventures!

  28. Nude juggling? That's quite interesting!
Britany Spears' police escort to the hospital was ridiculous! I think she craves all that attention, even if it's negative.
Gwen Stefani popping out another baby?
I don't even want to talk about Tom Cruise. He will probably kill himself on that dam bike.
As always that was an iteresting last image. hahaha

  29. Upset Waitress - I know (hangs head in shame). I was running low on pics and found that one more interesting than sexy.

Vivavavoom - Thanks, and I'm hoping for the exact same thing.

Trina - The juggling is quite a sight. As for Spears, I agree about the sheer numbers of her escort as that was ridiculous (among other things). Finally, I always try to end with an image that makes you think. Ha.

  30. Karen Says:
  31. You know if you ever do decide to reconsider the gender of your final pleasing shot, I have lots of delectable man shots you can choose from. I'm happy to share :)

  32. Gypsy - That's very generous of you as I remember seeing one in the past, but on the whole, they just don't do much for me. Ha.

  34. Tom cruise is probably the most adventurous hollywood actor alive. reminds me alittle of Steve McQueen with all the bikes and cars. Must be nice to be able to spend £50,000 pounds on a custom built 170mph motorbike and not have to worry about the cost. one thing is for sure, I bet the bike insurance will be pretty hefty on his new machine. he must be obsessed with bikes, he already owns more than a dozen of them.
