King of the Castle . . .

Posted by 2 Dollar Productions Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Today is my birthday.

I feel like the king of my castle. A person without boundaries or limits. Finally, I'm above the law.

{Editor's Note: I did not build this sandcastle.}

Actually, as I've said before, I think all birthdays following your 21st are hardly worth celebrating. Besides, what am I going to do on a Tuesday anyway?

It doesn't matter as I will find something to occupy my time. I have no choice. My company allows for a birthday vacation day - a nice perk which only falls slightly behind the nap room in my book - so I am out of the office and free to run amok.

The only firm item I have scheduled is a deep-tissue massage (not the seedier variety) where I will be kneaded like dough, and likely beaten within an inch of my life. This will actually feel fine as a little masochistic activity on your birthday is good for the soul.

We'll see if that notion holds up, however, any day off work is cause for celebration.

  2. Happy Birthday BDS. Wow a day off for your birthday! Is that so they don't have to buy you cake? Enjoy your massage and whatever else you end up doing on your special day.

  4. Happy Birthday!!!

Hang on though, you get the day off for your birthday and you've got a nap room? I'm so jealous! I've always dreamed of a nap room... never thought it existed. Where is it that you work again? Are they looking for anyone in accounting?

  6. Oh, and I forgot to mention... that sandsculpture is awesome! I wish I had talent like that.

  8. Many happy returns of the day! Pretty jealous of the deep tissue massage, what a great gift to yourself.

  10. Merry Birfday!

I always think that when people post its their birthday on their blog, that they are just fishing for congrats for merely living to some rather meaningless milestone.

But that doesn't mean you can't live it up a bit. Do all the things you've always wanted to do. Sing the songs that you like to sing, pee into the wind dammit!

  11. Gypsy - Thanks, and it might be to save money on the cake. Ha. But I've already got one of those at home, so I'm ahead of the game.

Grace - Thanks, and I'll check on the accounting gig, although it would require a substantial re-location. Ha. As for the nap room, it sounds better than it is as there's a few futons in a dark room and I'm unsure how often they clean them.

J - Thanks, and you should do the same with your training. When I was going crazy w/ the modeling thing, I tried to get them as often as possible because you are putting your body through the wringer (sp?).

WhatIgot - Agreed. My post was mainly to put something up as I usually do on Tuesday, and today I was generally taking off. It's been too long since I've pissed in the wind. Far too long.

  13. As my father once said, "The older you get, the more no one gives a damn."

Make the best of it 2 Dollar, lol.

  19. You're a guy who knows how to part-ee. Happy Day.

  20. Hermes Says:
  21. That is indeed a nice perk. I have to prove a GSW to get a day off... so I blog at work.
    Happy birthday!

  22. Luka Says:
  23. Many Happy Returns!

(And, wow - a nap room and a day off for your birthday! I have to sleep at my desk with fake wide awake eyes painted on my eyelids.)

  25. Happy Birthday! Enjoy the massage I do know how those hurt/feel oh so good all at the same time!

When my birthday falls on a weekday again i'm going to take it off for the hell of it. My mother takes her day off every year and spends it at the beach.

  26. happy birthday and i do hope you enjoyed that massage... i am completely and totally jealous (of the massage, not the birthday).

  27. Happy Birthday handsome!!!
    Hope it's a good one!

  28. Happy birthday!!! I would like to know where exactly do you work. I need to be employed there because any place that is gracious enough to give you the day off for your birthday is where I wanna work! Enjoy.

  29. Heff - Thanks Heff, and your father nailed that one. I don't even care that much anymore. Ha.

Linda - I love massages more than birthdays, but it was a good day all the way around. A free day is always fun. Thanks.

Nobich - Thanks, and I did even as I had the massuese grind her elbow into my back over and over again.

Anonymous Boxer - Thanks, and good to see you back around.

Getoffmylawn - Thanks. I like the perk as well. But what's a GSW?

Luka - I appreciate it, and that must take awhile to get the right amount of pain on your eyelids. Nice one as I always thought sleeping in my car would work as well.

Miss Ash - Thanks, and you should take the day off. Why not? It comes once a year. And the massage was great. Painful, but great.

Cats - Thanks, and I know. I would love to get a massage once a week if I could. That would be excellent.

GirlFriday - I appreciate it, and I did most of my celebrating the past weekend, although I still had a hell of a lot of fun with the day off.

Trina - Thanks, and my company has been voted one of the top 10 area mid-sized companies to work for in Austin the past several years. The birthday day is a nice piece of that.

  30. Well, I'm a few days late, but Happy Birthday nonetheless. I hope you had a good one. You should have gone for the happy ending.

  31. Joanna Cake Says:
  32. Happy Birthday!!!! x

  33. Native Minnow - Thanks, and maybe I'm too cheap or too nervous about ending up on my local TV news. Ha. I was happy enough.

Havingmycake - Thanks. It went as well as it could have.
